So I found the following Google Ad in GMail today:
Hedge Fund Jobs – www.hedgehogjobs.com – Global Hedge Fund Positions Search for the latest jobs
People who know me will find this funny as my nickname is ‘Hedgehog’ or ‘Hedge’ for short and I’ve been searching for jobs lately. Oddly appropriate eh?
Lately I’ve been working on making it easier to run homebrew code on the Wii with a bunch of talented folks. A few months ago bushing, tmbinc and segher hacked Zelda for the Wii to allow arbitrary code execution and since then have been discovering more and more of how the Wii works.
Lately bushing, marcan and dhewg have been working on a Homebrew Channel for the Wii (an application that shows up on the Wii’s main screen) that would let you download and play homebrew software such as ScummVM, Snes9x and others as easily as playing any other game on your Wii. I’ve been pitching in where I can and have been mostly working on the web interface to track available homebrew to download to the channel.
To keep up to date with the latest goings on in the homebrew Wii world check Wiibrew and HackMii
I’m getting ready to go on a week-long trip this Saturday to Utila (one of the Bay Islands in Honduras) with my buddy Curt from Ocean Enterprises here in San Diego. Our group of 16 divers are staying and diving at Utila Lodge where they’ve recently spotted some Whale Sharks, aka the biggest shark in the world. Don’t worry, their diet consists mainly of plankton and krill and are generally very friendly towards humans.
Hopefully the Whale Sharks will stick around and I’ll come back with some great photos to submit to EcoOcean

Can you go diving and see squid spawn and die, drive 2 hours and go snowboarding and surf (although I haven’t in about 9 months) some overhead waves – all in one week (or day if you really want to)
Here’s to getting up in 4 hours to go boarding. Enjoy your February 10th wherever you are.
So being from Nova Scotia on Canada’s East Coast I don’t make it home that often with the exception being Christmas and the odd wedding or two. I generally have interesting things happen to me on flights and this year was no exception. I booked a flight from LA to Halifax via New York and Boston so I could try out Virgin America and use some frequent flier points and everything looked fine.
The interesting stuff started with a big rain storm in Southern California the morning of my 7am flight out of LA, which caused me to miss said flight by about 10 minutes (note to self: don’t stop for breakfast on the way to catch a plane). This caused me to miss my connection in New York and ended up with me spending the night in Boston – no big deal. However the next morning Boston got a good sized snow storm that ended up delaying all and canceling most of the flights out of Logan International.
While waiting for the flight to Halifax to leave I ended up meeting two people from Miramichi, New Brunswick and we ended up teaming up in an effort to find a way home. All of the flights to Eastern Canada ended up being canceled that day and by dumb luck we ended up on a flight to Bangor, Maine thanks to a captain that was in the right place at the right time.
Now heading to Bangor while trying to get to Halifax would generally be a pretty dumb move but the mother one of my traveling companions (Hi Allison!) was willing to drive the 6+ hours to pick us up and drive us to Miramichi – after driving for most of the day already. After eating dinner, having an uneventful border crossing and about 6 hours we ended up in Miramichi where Allison graciously hosted me for the night.
So how did I get to Halifax? I took the Via Rail train from Miramichi to Halifax which, of course was 4 hours late. Even more interesting things continued to happen as I randomly met a roommate of my cousin who goes to Mount Allison University – small world.
Thank God for wonderful mothers.
